2009: Open My Mouth Boldly

December 31, 2008. I have a goal this year to evangelize one person every single day. I can pass out a gospel tract to get that done, but I prefer to talk to someone. The latter is what I want and the former what I'll settle with to reach the goal. To add some accountability, I will write about my evangelism experience every day.

My theme verses are Ephesians 6:19-20:
And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
That's where the blog name comes from, the phrase, "open my mouth boldly." We are sanctified by the truth (John 17:17). What God wants is bold proclamation of the gospel. "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ" (Romans 1:16).

If you want to join me in that goal, let me know here in the comment section. Every day you can comment after my post and let me know how your evangelistic opportunity went!

  1. Seriously, bro, may God bless you in your goal this year! We've argued a bit between blogs in the past year on a couple things, but I hope it's been healthy. I'm not about to argue with you about this one. I really pray that the Lord uses you for His glory!

  2. Corey Seulian (sp?), a pastor near Denver CO has made popular (read: books and conferences) amongst the Hyles crowd daily soulwinning...except he has vowed/purposed/promised to lead one soul to Christ daily.

I fear that would lead to yankin' prayers out of unbelievers. I take it though that you are wanting to witness, and not necessarily see conversions daily...right?

What brought this on? Anything specific, or you just didn't have enough to do? ;-)

Looking forward to reading of your adventures in evangelism.

    Oh...and Happy New Year!

  3. Thanks, DT. I like talking.

    Reglerjoe,

First, no way do I have a goal to see someone converted everyday. Second, why the goal? I think it is a possible goal and it will help me. I thought reporting it would encourage and influence. It would be a positive with all of us. Thanks for asking, Joe!!!

  4. You are right about it being encouraging and influencing. It's very convicting to hear of your testimony of working toward this goal. I hope to do much more for Christ this year, as well. Thanks so much.
