Turkey

January 12, 2009. Day Twelve. Monday. I was with the whole 23 member family all day. This was the day we had planned to be together around my parents' fiftieth wedding anniversary. We left home at 9:30am to head to San Francisco. I looked for evangelistic opportunities all day. At the parking area, I walked to little hut to talk to the attendant. I gave him a tract and began talking to him about the Lord. I found out he had just moved here from Turkey. Later in the day, I walked to the window of a trucker who was making a delivery. It looked like he was sitting and waiting, so I went to his window and handed him a tract and asked him if he had time, to read that. I did the same thing with a family that was sitting in the car in a parked position.

  1. What you described reminds me of our last summer drama trip. We were waiting a long time to get on the boat to Canada; I think Vancouver Island. There was a large line of trucks, so we all went out to pass out tracts to the truckers and people in their cars. Mr. Ross got in a conversation as we were getting the van on the boat. We couldn't wait, so he was left behind. The next scene of Mr. Ross was him running out of a hotel on the island to meet back with us.

Anyways, I talked to one of my contacts, Cecilia and her kids. I have talked to her before. She rode our bus in the past. She knows that she is not saved.

I also talked to Jason. I have talked to him many times already, so I told him that he will either receive or reject Jesus Christ.

I have a question. Everytime I ask Jason which way he wants to go, he says, "I don't know yet." I have been clear with him about salvation. What is the best thing to do with a person like this?

  2. David,

That was one of the funniest stories I've ever seen with Mr. Ross.

Some might disagree with this, but I take the example of Jesus to the answer of your question, so it is how I operate. Next time you talk to him tell him that he should call you if he wants it. Give him your number. It's not your responsibility anymore to call him. He must strive to enter in. So you call me, I won't call you. That's what I would say. Some might say you should not "give up." This isn't giving up. It's putting the responsibility upon him, where it should be.

  3. I agree. It is somewhat similar to what Jesus did with the Syrophenician woman in Matthew 15:21-28. She finally came to a point of worshipping Jesus. Even then Jesus gave her another gauntlet in verse 26. She kept pressing Him. His answer was "O Woman, great is thy faith." Also most of the time we see Jesus responding to people wanting and scratching to have what He had to offer.

It is great to follow Jesus' example. By following Him, we glorify Him and witness genuine conversions.

    Thank you.
